Through fostering an environment in which students can write uplifting or cheerful cards, the Letters for the Elderly Club at Sidwell seeks to to remind both students and senior citizens alike that spreading joy and building community doesn’t have to be hard. Club meetings involve students of different grades dropping in to write cards, often holiday-inspired or light-hearted in general. Moreover, our plans for the future include establishing a pen pal program to build more concrete and longer-term relationships between students and seniors.
